Installing Intervention Image and Setup

Image Upload Service

In this video lesson we will install and setup the package we will be using to resize our images for us Intervention Image

Video Information

Hi everyone , welcome back to Laracademy. It's Mickey again and in this video we are going to install Intervention's image package. The reason we are going to be using this package is to create thumbnails for our images that our client's upload. This will save on bandwidth and make our service faster instead of serving the full image all the time.

Let's open up our terminal and make sure we are in the right directory. We are going to be using composer to pull in this package. The requirements for this package is either the gd library or imagick which are image libraies. I will be using the gd Library

composer require intervention/image

Now that composer is finished we need to add the Image Service Provider and facade to our application. Open up config/app.php and add

Intervention\Image\ImageServiceProvider::class, to the providers. 'Image' => Intervention\Image\Facades\Image::class, to our aliases.

Now we have intervention image install and we can move on to the next lesson. Thanks for watching.
